Climb aboard this 19th Century vessel for a completely unique events venue. Ideal for dinners, parties, corporate events and award ceremonies.

Venue History

Built in 1869, the Cutty Sark was the last clipper ship built to serve as a merchant vessel. Today she remains as one of only three surviving composite construction clipper ships. During her long career, Cutty Sark has served as a merchant ship, then a training ship before being opened to the public in 1954. A fire in 2007 damaged the ship but following the Cutty Sark Restoration Project, Cutty Sark was reopened in 2012.

Venue Overview

Climb aboard the Cutty Sark for your event to both celebrate at a completely unique venue and discover what life was like on board the legendary sailing ship. This 19th century vessel is the world’s last sole surviving tea clipper and fastest ship of her time – now an award-winning visitor attraction and following a makeover from the Cutty Sark Conservation Project, the ship is as good as new and open as a spectacular riverside venue.

Four new and dramatic spaces have been unveiled as a setting for a variety of events, either together or separately. Cutty Sark has been raised over three metres and is surrounded at the waterline by glass, enabling guests to enjoy the magnificent vessel all year round. In addition to the three decks, a brand new and exciting space has been opened below the vessel itself. By raising the ship above its original position, a novel event space has been created within the dry berth of the ship. Guests can walk, dine and dance beneath the ship’s hull to fully admire Cutty Sark’s form. This 1000m² space beneath the ship’s hull can host up to 450 guests for a stand-up reception or 200 guests for a dinner.

Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site at Greenwich, the National Maritime Museum’s five unique venues provide a tranquil setting for any event, whilst being only 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Cutty Sark is one of the most famous ships in the world, and the last of the great tea clippers. An evening beneath her gleaming hull is a truly unique experience, and with the whole ship reserved exclusively for your use, your guests are free to explore this extraordinary vessel at their leisure.

The studio theatre in the lower hold is equipped with an audiovisual system, atmospheric lighting, screen and stage if required. All three of the vessel’s decks are available as impressive and exclusive event settings. The top deck boasts fantastic views over the Thames towards Canary Wharf and the City. This is one venue which promises to provide each and every guest with a totally unique nautical experience. Dinners can be held in the Dry Berth, which is the largest and most versatile entertaining space at Cutty Sark. There are great opportunities to design your event beneath the gleaming copper hull, perforfect for gala dinners, awards ceremonies, unique events, lavish banquets, award ceremonies and presentations.
