Spring has to be our favourite time of year; it’s the season of renewal, a new phase of life and as such, it’s the perfect time for a wedding.

With flowers blooming and the long, light evenings, Spring provides the most picturesque backdrop for your wedding. This spring we’re seeing the beauty of soft pastel tones, from the linen to the cocktails and right through to the groomsmen suits.

Here are our favourite Spring Wedding trends to make your special day unforgettable.

For us Spring means flowers. During this season beautiful blooms are sprouting up, creating the most colourful time of year and it would be a tragedy not to incorporate this into your big day. Couples can be as subtle or as extravagant as they like when it comes to spring florals, whether they go for a sweet and subtle sweet peas, cherry blossom and anemones or bright and bold with peonies, alliums and lilac.

If you’ve chosen an elaborate and modern theme for your wedding, why not walk down the aisle surrounded by your luscious arbours or say your vows under an ornate floral arch.  Should you prefer a more rustic-chic feel, add some seasonal hints to the table by replacing classic vases with cute props such as buckets and vintage jars.

You can incorporate these floral themes throughout your big day, starting with the stationary from invites to the place cards to decorating the bar, photo booth and even the cake.

To some the threat of springtime showers can be a disaster, but at Create, we’ll never let rain put a dampener on proceedings. In fact, we encourage our couples to embrace it, incorporating wet weather contingencies such as colourful umbrellas into their big day: they’re the perfect addition to photos as well as keeping you and your guests nice and dry. On the plus side, most photographers say that a little overcast weather makes for better photographs as bright light is harder to work with.

Top Tip: Make sure you get a photographer who has plenty of experience working outdoors so that they can truly capture the beautiful colours, sunsets and even those potential drops of rain.

Being an airy season ditch the black formalwear and bring in some lighter hues such as a light coloured tie on the groomsmen, bright bridesmaid dresses or even a pastel suit.

At Create, we see spring as season that suits more relaxed and informal style weddings and this year Bohemian is a top trend with brides choosing lace dresses, which move with the light winds, combined with ‘undone’ hairstyles. But don’t forget to add a small cover-up for when the sun sets and the evening becomes a bit chilly.

Thankfully, gone are the days of the boring cash bar. Now it’s all about the bespoke evening bar. Let your guests choose from Kilner Jars full of a Create’s delicious soft cocktails, such as the Elder Garden, garnished with beautiful edible flower or custom ‘Mr and Mrs’ cocktails to reflect the couples tastes and personalities.

This Spring we’re seeing a real trend towards a light fish starter; traditionally a salmon starter is always a winner but why not venture out and have a delicious cured sea trout and poached langoustine with a smoked cod roe emulsion; the perfect accompaniment for your main of a delicious seasonal lamb with a pea and mint fricassee and pomme-anna.
