Glamour of the Gods: Hollywood Portraits Viewing

In partnership with The National Portrait Gallery, Fisher Productions, Lavender Green and Sternburg Clarke, create food & party design hosted a canapé reception at the world famous National Portrait Gallery, celebrating the Glamour of the Gods: Hollywood Portraits exhibition on Monday 10th October.

THE LOOK
With a principal colour scheme of black and white, reflecting the sultry monochrome tones of the influential prints, the gallery was dressed by Lavender Green with giant black glass Boll vases filled with white Phalaenopsis Orchids positioned on polished black plinths. Silver edged lanterns lined the staircase enticing guests in to the main reception space where they were greeted by waiting staff offering flutes of champagne and delicious apple strudel martinis.

Fisher Productions ensured the atmosphere reflected the elegant occasion, showcasing some spectacular lighting, with hot pink and lavender uplighters making focal points of the tall striking orchid arrangements and monochrome bar equipment.

The evening's entertainment was organised by Sternberg Clarke who provided the gifted caricaturist, Jane Moore and the marvelous 'Wandering Hands' an acoustic trio who strolled amongst the gallery playing lively covers and requests, delighting guests with their spontaneity.

ON THE MENU
create chose a selection of canapés from their new season's menus to reflect the grandeur of the occasion, circulating, amongst others, lamb on mini rosemary rostis with yogurt tahini; asian beef carpaccio with spiced pickled vegetables; smoked salmon and pea puree on a black olive croute and seared tuna star anise with crispy seaweed.

create then distributed an array of stylish bowl food dishes, including breast of guinea fowl with potato and apple dauphinoise, savoy cabbage with chestnuts, pancetta and game jus; jasmine smoked scallops with cumin roasted chanterey carrots and carrot purée; chestnut and spinach risotto taleggio with pear crisp and finally the ever popular pumpkin ravioli, lemon fried marrow, crispy sage and sage cream.

For something sweet, create provided their deliciously indulgent pick and mix dessert station, featuring glass towers of mini macaroons; giant martini glasses of white, milk and dark chocolate truffles, black lacquer urns of homemade vanilla and strawberry marshmallow lolly pops, bitter chocolate fudge and coconut ice.
